It will not fight your CSS. The widget renders inside a shadow root, so your styles do not reach into it and its styles do not leak out.
It fails quietly. If the API is unreachable, nothing is drawn — your layout does not shift and no error reaches your visitors.
It counts against the free tier (500 requests/day per visitor IP, see the API reference). One widget on a normal page is far below that; a widget on a high-traffic page should use an API key.
