A bug has been discovered in the Ledger Nano S hardware crypto wallet in the operation of software version 1.1.3 with the Monero 0.14 client, related to an incorrect address for the return of funds. This was reported by the developers of the Ledger Nano S cryptocurrency wallet. The developers discovered "some oddities" during testing and began a deeper study of the problem.
Ledger, the manufacturer of popular hardware wallets for storing cryptocurrencies, reported this morning: "It appears there is a bug related to the change wallet address. The return of funds is apparently being carried out incorrectly." As Ledger notes, initial tests showed that the undesirable effect is produced by the combination of a specific client version with a specific version of the wallet application, and they began a deeper study of the problem. For this reason, owners of Ledger Nano S devices were asked to refrain from using version 0.14 while the developers search for a solution. At the same time, according to representatives of the French company, transactions with other software pose no danger to clients' funds. That is, users who do not carry out transactions with the supposedly vulnerable software are not taking any risk.
The Ledger Nano S hardware crypto wallet became compatible with the Monero crypto wallet with a graphical interface – Monero GUI 0.13 – in November of last year. And two weeks ago, a bug was discovered in a Ledger Nano S update that reduced the amount of the device's memory. And last week, information was disclosed about a vulnerability in Ledger devices related to addresses for the return of coins, however in that case the problem affected bitcoin wallets.
